SAGE PIERCING AGE LIMITS AND IDENTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Piercings:

We will pierce first earlobes on anyone 6 years old or older. Second earlobe piercings will be offered to those 12 years old or older. We do not offer third earlobe placements as proximity to cartilage will make healing unsatisfactory.

15 years old and up:

We will pierce nostrils, navels, and simple ear cartilage piercings (helix, tragus) for people 15 years or older.

16 years old and up:

At 16 years of age, we will stretch earlobe piercings, pierce lips, tongue, septum, second tier ear cartilage (rook, forward helix, flats, conch with a stud), and surface anchors by the piercer’s approval, as well as nostrils and navels.

Surface anchors will only be done on clients between 16 and 18 years old after both the consenting parent and the client have gone through a thorough education session with the piercer. If the piercer deems the client unsuitable, they will be refused at that time.

18 years old or older:

Clients must be at least 18 years old for larger (8g and up) earlobe piercings, third tier ear cartilage piercings (inner conch with a ring, snug, antitragus, daith, and industrial ear cartilage projects), bridge, cheek, nipple or genital piercings. We will not budge on these rules.

Identification requirements:

18 years or older:
Client MUST have a government issued ID, i.e. a VALID driver’s license, state ID card, military ID, or passport. International student ID cards or driver’s licenses will also be accepted if they are current, and contain a date of birth as well as name, photo, and serial number.

Between 15 and 18 years old:
All underage clients MUST be accompanied by their legal parent. If they are an emancipated minor, they must have legal papers to prove it. Client must have a state issued or military ID card, driver’s license, learner’s permit, or valid passport. A school ID will be accepted ONLY IF accompanied by an original birth certificate. Consenting parents must also furnish a driver’s license. Parties (parent and child) must have matching last names on their IDs, and if both provide driver’s licenses (or a learner’s permit), the address of residence must match also. If last names differ but the address matches, that is acceptable. If last names AND addresses differ, proof of guardianship is required, such as a birth certificate or other legal guardianship papers. A school ID is only acceptable if accompanied by a birth certificate, and there are no name changes between the first and middle name of the parent and no change to the entire name of the child. We will not accept photocopies of any documentation, only the original documents. We will not look at pictures on your phone. Piercing earlobes of children under 15 WILL NOT be done without review of a birth certificate and the parent’s driver’s license.

During the piercing process, the parent is required to be present for the set-up and aftercare presentation, but is not required to witness the piercing procedure. Parents are required to be in the piercing room for the entire piercing process including the piercing procedure for earlobe piercing of anyone under the age of 15.
